Hi HB

Thank you so much for sharing this story. It represents how I want my relationship to be with my children, my sister, my mother and my aunt.

Quote from HB: I will probably spend the rest of my life trying to truly understandng it.

I agree. Brilliantly put.

Cheers!

Thank you so much HB. That was beautiful and something for us to strive for.

I just want to say that I'm glad you are back and posting. You bring so much to this board. I loved this and especially your other post about what you learned in therapy. I hope I can learn half as much and that my T will be half as understanding and supportive through my journey and my struggle as yours was with you.

Thank you.
TN

Hummingbird:

Thank you so much for sharing!! I am currently working on a masters in nursing....my research methodology is hermeneutics...more specifically, Gadamerian hermeneutics...this type of hermeneutics concentrates on expanding horizons of understanding through dialogue and/or texts (written or spoken word)...and, for hermeneutics there is no beginning or end....in other words, understanding is a dynamic process, one that is constantly evolving or changing....so, as you read and reread that excerpt....your understanding will likely change each time that it is read.... not sure that this is making sense or not...or even helpful in any way...

I noted that you found this excerpt in a hospice...may I ask if you were visiting a loved one there?? My research focuses on spirituality in the hospice population...so I was just wondering about your hospice experience??

Very cool. I think that this is what mature love looks like. When we don't need to mold the person into what we want because what they do is not a reflection of us. Of course this is easier said then done and takes tremedous ego strength. I can look back now and see how I have lost a few of my relationships this way, by holding on too tight.
