Okay, I am starting a discussion on self love and care. I posted in another thread about the importance of doing something kind for yourself, and taking time for yourself to pamper, love, or whatever makes you happy. Loving yourself is the first step towards feeling free. I struggle with this too.

So, in this thread. I want us to be aware of the NICE things we do for ourselves that show us the self love--whether it's buying yourself something, getting a massage, telling yourself positive affirmations, whatever it is--share. We can all learn from one another on this. I think most of us know that we get wrapped up in our busy lives and our needs sometimes come last.

I will start.

Yesterday, I set up an event on my cell phone for 5 minutes before I wake up to notify me that "You are amazing." So today when I turned off my alarm for work, the first words I saw were "You are amazing!" It reminded me that T told me this last session, and that I liked the way it felt. It started my day off right.

What's yours?

Oh BrokenIllusions. I struggle with self love so I can't think of anything to share right now but I just wanted to post to say that you are amazing for putting that message on your phone! What a great idea Smiler

I love this!

I have been fighting a nasty cold for over a week, among other struggles. Today when I was walking back from school drop off, my neighbor offered to take care of my youngest this afternoon so I could rest. I started to say "no," but then said, "Thank you. That would be wonderful." I had a three hour nap this afternoon, thanks to her kindness, and my willingness to accept it.

I'm also cooking frozen pizza for dinner, which I consider an act of self care. Big Grin

I love reading these! Smiler Yay! I am so glad that you all have taken the care to give some self love to you.

Tygr--Thanks, you are amazing, too. Print this out and keep it with you when you need it. Smiler

DF--taking yourself out alone is a BIG step. I struggle with that, too. So, congrats on that and congrats on the feeling of freedom you had.

BG--so glad you took the offer to rest. Take care of yourself, and that pizza sounds good. I might have to be loving towards myself and get me some pizza now! Smiler

Another nice thing I've done for me: I allowed myself to go get a cup of frozen yogurt today and splurged with Oreo Cookie crumbles.

I tend to overindulge...which is not really self love at all.
BUT - for myself, this something special that I like to do is go to the lakeshore, early in the morning and watch the sunrise. I try to do this at least once a week, and it is really my special time for ME.
I live alone, so it's always just me now.....but this time at the lake is special. It's my time for me & god.
I wish I knew how to post pictures here, you would all just love them. I will try to figure it out! (just thinkins about it excites me!)
Great thread! Thanks BI!!

Aw shucks BI.

I've picked some sweet pea flowers that I grew from seed so I have beautiful purple flowers to look at and smell. And it encourages the plants to grow more flowers so we both win.

And I had a bath with lemon and lavender essential oils and read a good book this morning - very relaxing.

Tygr,

See I told you that you were amazing. Flowers, a bath--sounds heavenly.

Draggers--sometimes existence is all that we can believe in and that's okay.

This self love stuff isn't the easiest thing in the world. It's challenging. So, no matter how BIG or small your display of self love is--it's good. Smiler

Today I held my baby a little longer and got some good cuddle time. I am taking my lunch break to myself and going to run some errands. I told myself I looked good in the mirror, and my little "amazing" message went off upon me waking up.
