Does everyone elses T write in a notepad and then write things type in a computer when you arent there about you and writes what you say in sessions?

I saw some things she wrote on the computer and have been extremly angry ever since then. It was a part of a discussion that I had with her that I told her I wanted to be kept extremly confidential and im not sure what to say or do about it. I'm so angry.
I'm not a person to her just another job and she documents everything. grr!

Emerald,

I, too, would be upset about electronic records of my sessions - not only for the reasons you said, feeling like you're "just another case", but also because unless I really really trusted that the T knew how to safeguard their computer, electronic files are far less secure than paper ones.

It'd freak me out.

I'm a T in training :P and I suppose I did about the WORST thing a T could do! I LOST SOME OF MY CLIENT NOTES!

I feel horrible! I had to write a 'case study' for school and used them for that (we have permission from the clients first of course, they know we are going to use the notes, pics. etc. for 'learning purposes' at class and discuss their cases, so that's not the problem here....although I know it's a hard one also...)

Anyhow, I had them by the computer for my write-up and now they aren't to be found! I know they MUST be on my messy desk but still... I feel horrible!

I think if this happened to me I'd flip out! I mean, if my T lost notes on me... it's notes on a child so I don't think the concept of notes would even be an issue but still.... *sigh* sometimes I'm finding this all too hard...

Robin/Scott:
I'm very interested in the "T in training." Are you really? How far along are you? I am SOOOO totally interested in becoming one myself. I talked to my T ALOT about it(before our last session yesterday), and I am currently enrolled in 4 classes towards making that a reality. I do have a long way to go, though. Before I actually entered the world of therapy myself, I was VERY skeptical of the whole concept of counseling--even though I work in a healthcare field already. But now I know what a huge POSITIVE impact it can have, and I want to learn how to do it SOOOO badly!!

GOOD LUCK!! Keep us posted on your progress.

Hi,

I'm taking an Art Therapy diploma program, not quite a Masters but a post-Bachelors. It's a 1 1/2 yr. program and we started in September. It's great! But a whole ton of work...

Robin,
Sounds interesting!! I just started my classes and it took me all day just to get the online tutorial completed!!! i like the old-fashioned way of reading a book and writing your answers on a piece of paper. lol!
I wish you good luck with your classes!
