STRM,

I have never head of The Invisible String but the premise is precious. I'll take a peak at it on Amazon. Wow...I am grinning from ear to ear to hear hearing you received such a priceless gift from your T. I am so glad she was willing to read and record the book for your little parts to hear whenever they are feeling the need to connect with her. Kudos for taking such good care of you and the little ones by pursuing the idea!

STRM, my T has referred to relationships before as an "invisible thread" that is hard to describe. Like you I think, she was trying to reassure me that relationships don't end with physical separation. So the title of your book has interested me. The reviews I've read about it are all very positive, so I've just ordered it and look forward to sharing it with my T. Thanks for sharing!

MH,

That is great! My T and I had many similar conversations before I shared this book with her as well. It was a very fitting book. I hope your T enjoys it and it is helpful in some way in your work together.

Deeplyrooted,

Thanks! I am very thankful that my T was willing to give us this gift as well. I know that we will treasure it when we are apart.

STRM,

Cool!! So glad that your T was willing to do that for you, and amazing to me that she would go back and do it a second time changing names to match your CPs and hers to make it personal. That is so precious. I'm sure that is a cherished gift. Smiler I'm going to check this book out myself, as it sounds really special. Thanks for sharing this with us!

I am reading through these old posts and it gives me some courage to go into my next session and ask my therapist to record a story that she reads for me. She did this for many many years ago. I recently came across the tape and was able to convert it and save it to i-tunes. I now have it on my iPod. There are three stories I have in mind. Not sure if she would read all 3. But my list is as follows: The Runaway Bunny, Are You My Mother?, and A Tree Is Nice...I will see her in 10 days....

Hi Cmac,
I just wanted to say hi and welcome to the forums! I'm glad that reading here has given you courage as we all need all that we can find in therapy. Smiler And I love the story "The Runaway Bunny." I discovered it when reading to my children and always loved it, it's a wonderful message. I hope that your therapist is open to doing this for you. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

reading now...

Jesus as a Life Coach, laurie beth jones

really good, kind of using Jesus life and teachings as a therapy tool to help us to achieve focus, balance, productivity and fulfillment. i am at focus, and it is helpful to me, and a welcome departure from stirring all my stuff up with more on attachment theory and such.

Today in my session I finally asked for my therapist to tape her reading THE RUNAWAY BUNNY and THE GIVING TREE to me. She said she would be gald to do it and would have it for me next session! I was so afraid to ask her but she said that it was no problem and to not be afraid to ask when I need something. Big Grin
