Hi! I am currently in college and taking a LOT of Psych classes. I am stuck on writing this paper in which I need to share information on what we should keep in mind when counseling diverse populations. I would like to get some insight from different cultures as to their values, beliefs, etc. This information would really benefit when I begin counseling. Thanks for reading and I appreciate the insight!

Hi Shannon,

I'd like to answer your question, but it's very broad and hard to get a handle on. I don't know, for a start, if my culture is 'different' to yours! And I'm not sure if and how those differences would affect a counselling situation or not. The thing about cultural values and beliefs is that they don't seem 'different' to those that hold them - they just seem like normality. Smiler

Maybe if you have particular culture or situation you could ask about, that would help people to respond.

Good luck,
J
