Hello, I'm Dr. Suzanne LaCombe and I am the Administrator of this forum. I've prepared a few guidelines to help you navigate through the site.

Our Mission

First off, you will see that we are a small support community of people in therapy. We're enthusiastic about psychotherapy because we've either seen how it can change others, or have experienced its benefits ourselves.

Now therapy isn't a "cake-walk" by any means, but community support can help us manage the ups and downs that inevitably occur. The purpose is to help others understand the process, and make it a user-friendly and positive experience as much as possible.

Specific Terms of Use for these Forums

This forum is not currently moderated. I encourage you to take this into account when you post.

I am the only administrator. I will attempt to remove or edit objectionable material as quickly as I can, but it's impossible to review every posting. This means that all posts express the opinions of the author(s) alone, and that neither I nor The Counseling Psych Café are liable for the content of any post.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or otherwise illegal content. Violating this rule may lead to an immediate and permanent ban from the forums (and your service provider being notified). Note that the IP address of all posts is recorded and if necessary will be used in enforcing these conditions.

You agree that I may remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should I see fit, without notice.

This forum is to be used for mutual support and information sharing only.

Who owns the posts?

Each author is the sole owner of his or her posts. Forums automatically delete posts written after a certain date, however. Under U.S. copyright provisions no one may reproduce your post unless you give explicit permission for them to do so, or unless they are claiming the right under the 'fair use' exemption.

Links in your profile are fine. Link to almost anything you want in your profile page, as long as it doesn't violate our sexual, illegal activities, or profanity guidelines.

Links on a post to any site are perfectly okay, but only once, and as long as it's your personal site, photos, whatever.

Links in your signature are okay, as long as they are to your personal site (so no commercial or community site links allowed in your email signature).

When in doubt about appropriate content, contact me before posting questionable material.

Use of Intellectual Property

All users, visitors and members who access this forum agree not to copy-and-paste, quote, print-out, distribute, or otherwise use a member's postings or other contributions to the community on another website, blog, or service without first obtaining the express written permission of the author (via a PM or email).

Photo Gallery

Our photo gallery is for use by registered members only. They are free to post any photograph or image as long as they own the copyright. You should refrain from posting copyrighted material (unless you are the author of the material) or any photo featuring individuals who have not given their expressed permission. No lewd, pornographic or obscene images are permitted. Any photo or graphic in the photo gallery found to be violating this guideline will be removed and the member contacted.


Can I post other people's images or photos I found on the Internet?

In general, photographs and images on other sites are copyrighted and cannot be used in the forums without the express permission of the author. Please do not post images or photos from other websites without first obtaining permission. Such material will be removed without notice.
