I do a lot of self talk... As someone who is almost impossible to bore even in an empty room I have lots to think. Lots of divergent opinions or I have to talk myself through 20sides of an issue and analyze everything.
It would be so interesting to see how other people "think". How their mind and thoughts work together...
Positive self talk or supportive self talk really brings up a sarcastic and mean side of me... And I end up just beating myself up. But I can rationalize and move things from the emotional as much to the 'logical' as possible. I find it highly useful!
My self talk when I'm in crisis is very systemic. Planning and coordinating parts take over. My T has talked about changing 'old tapes' and I think what you've said here is exactly what she means!
