For clothes I would suggest:
Old Navy
White House Black Market
Macys
Banana Republic
For baking goods:
Any Wilton product at JoAnn's or Michael's
N.Y. Cake (locations in NY and LA)

Yankee Candles are great! I love them. Also there are Wal-marts, Target, K-mart/Sears. I like Wal-mart and Target myself - both have everything you need and reasonably priced. K-mart/Sears isn't bad but they don't always have a great price.
Hi Frosty,
Regarding candles, I would recommend trying the massage candles put out by Earthly Body (just google it to get to their website - I can't access it right now to give you the link because I'm at work). I am also someone who doesn't like scents that are too "sweet" or "strong" and it seems that most of the popular ones (like Yankee or Bath & Body) are too sweet or strong for me. But the ones put out by Earthly Body are perfect, IMO.
I first discovered Earthly Body products when the lady who cuts my hair put something that smelled heavenly on my hair. Turned out to be something called marrakesh oil. I found out where she got it so I could order some, and this is the company she orders it from. From there I tried their massage candles and so far I've tried several and LOVE them all. The "wax" of the candle is actually scented lotion in solid form, so to use it for lotion, you light the candle and pour the melted "wax" into your hand and smooth it on. Or you can just enjoy the scent without using the lotion. The one called "Earth Angel" is particularly nice if you want a recommendation to start with. "Skinny Dip" is basically a vanilla scent which is also light and very nice without being too heavy or sweet. "Moroccan Nights" has a really nice spicy scent. The only one I really didn't care for so far is Dreamsicle, but that's because fruit scents don't really appeal to me, and that one is supposed to smell like an orange popsicle (called a Creamsicle). I go more for light floral and/or spicy scents.
Anyway, enjoy, and good luck!

Whenever my exchange students went back to Europe when I was in high school, they bought an extra suitcase that they filled just with Skippy peanut butter. I have noticed on my trips to Europe there doesn't seem to be peanut butter anywhere, so now it makes sense why they did that.
Frosty - re: N.I.T.W. - that's a good one, too.

Smiley, wal-mart seems huge, just from the homepage alone. We don't have these big supermarkets over here. Thanks for the tips!
DF, reaaally? they all sound so good but I don't want to buy that many and smell them and then they make me gag because they're not that good after all.
SG, hehe, I looked at their sites, definitely sounds good, too. Especially the Naked In The Woods! So you can just burn it and not use it as lotion?
LG, we do have peanut butter here. Crunchy and normal. I absolutely hate peanuts so uuuh, not for me Do you have other suggestions? Like candy or chocolate stuff?
Frosty, I pretty much think everything is better in Europe, so I'm not much help as far as recommending things. However, I did notice on my recent trip that I could not find a regular snickers bar anywhere. They had the kind with almonds, but not the regular kind in Amsterdam an d Prague.
I also like Trolli Gummi Peaches and Trolli Gummi Apples, and I think that is an American brand....often sold at Gas Stations and Walgreens.
Frosty,
Sorry, the swiss not the americans, have the best chocolate IMO: Lindt. It's awesome. American chocolate is a poor subsitute.

PF,
I will send you some Peeps in October when they come out for Halloween.
Oh, and I am a HUGE pocky fan. I love the Strawberry Pocky. They sell them at most grocery stores here in the asian food section.
And yes, the regular snicker's is peanuts.
I agree, the Swiss chocolate is so much better than what we have here. I'm wondering if you guys have Pringles potato chips over there? It might be worth having your friend pick up a few cans of those. Sour Cream, regular, and BBQ are the best.

The Halloween Peeps are in the shapes of pumpkins, cats, and ghosts, I think. Christmas Peeps are in the shape of Christmas trees and snowmen, I believe. Valentine's Day they are in the shape of Hearts and also in the shape of spelling out "I love U", etc.
