Thanks UV, I haven't read that one but have read a lot of things by Glenn Gabbard and have a great deal of respect for him. I wanted to add another book I thought made for interesting reading about countertransference which is
Countertransference and the Treatment of Trauma by Charlotte Dahlenberg
The author is a trauma specialist and this is written for other therapists but I do think it provided an interesting look at what it's like from the practioner's point of view working with people with trauma. I found it to be pretty accessible despite being a professional text but I would also want to warn that it could be quite triggering reading it, especially the sections that discussed how difficult it could get for the therapists.

I have read the Dahlenberg book on Trauma and Countertransference and found it very interesting and relevant.
I do not agree that BPD and Complex PTSD are the same thing. I will agree that those with C-PTSD may have some borderline traits but there are definite differences between the two dx's.
DF... made some good points and I agree wtih you.

Hey guys,
Just wondering what you all think is the difference between Borderline and CPTSD, aside from any questions of trauma????

Liese, I'm going to link you back to an older thread of yours where we discussed this. I hope it helps.

Thanks Tn, still struggling with it.
Thanks UV,
The distinction is not altogether clear to me but then again, it sounds as if it may not be altogether clear to many if Herman herself thinks the CPTSD classification should replace BPD. It give me lots to think about. T says I have some traits, not the disorder. Really what difference does it make? I just want to get well.
Love your quote, btw. How can I make a signature quote?

just my two cents. from what i am learning, bpd has a biological component, where cptsd is entirely environmental.

Great link, UV, thanks.
Hey UV,
I too have had late onset of symptoms, although things for me were probably unresolved all along. I think the stress of life wears us down as we age. But good news is brains plasticity!!! Thank god!!! And that god we live in a time when more and more practioners know about the brains plasticity!! It takes me longer now to get things but I feel those neurons growing on occasion.
