Well, long-term stress does raise the levels of cortisol in your body, which in turn can cause fat gain (namely around the stomach area), so it's possible that that is a contributing factor. Also, cutting your calories too LOW or removing too much from your diet can also cause your body to conserve the energy you do get, like Draggers suggested.
OMG, I LOVE those cocoa almonds too. No WAY we can keep those in the house. Moderation? What's that? Big Grin Thanks for all the other information, Joie and CTL. Sorry I can't be of any help, xoxo. I am always trying to do better with healthier eating and more exercise and less stress and...well...right now I'm not doing so well. Roll Eyes But anyway, I just wanted to wish you the best. Wink

Thanks for all that info! I miss my crazy athlete days. Still working out, but not as intensely, because I did overtrain in the past.
school wipes me out, and I have a lot of injuries.

Yep, we need a variety of macronutrients (carbs, fat, protein) but the micronutrients are also important. Eating processed foods can often consume more of these nutrients than we take in, and our soil is very depleted. It's a very good idea to eat WHOLE and unprocessed foods. In addition, corn-fed meat has a different nutritional profile than grass-fed beef or chicken. Among other things, the Omega 6 to Omega 3 fatty acid ratio is about 20:1 where it should be about 5:1 at the most (go grass fed) The higher ratio of Omega 6's promotes inflammation, which is the precursor to many diseases.

Many say that they can't afford it, but protein doesn't all have to come from meat, and many would rather buy drugs in the future than eat well now.

The phyonutrients present in plants are also essential for some metabolic activities, but have wonderful anti-aging and muscle recovery properties. But Iceberg lettuce doesn't count. It's nutritional profile sucks.

Many women could probably do with more B vitamins, vitamin C, and a fish oil in their diet for the EPA and DHA. Especially when under stress!

Going to teach spin this morning, had my steel cut oats and blueberries. But I also LOVE chocolate and red wine.

One day I will have to try the P90X but I live in a small urban studio on the second floor.

You said cycling coach? Cool! Do you race? Smiler

ALL: I could eat sushi all day long if I could afford it! Smiler
(((((xoxo))))) I am sorry you are feeling so fatigued and foggy, have done so much investigation and work, and are not getting any answers. How frustrating and discouraging. Frowner

This is just a wild shot in the dark, based on a recent discovery of mine, but are you drinking or eating anything that is low calorie or sugar-free that may have aspartame in it? I was getting headaches to the point of having to take off work on multiple occasions and finally figured out that it was due to all the diet soda I was drinking. At first I thought it was the caffeine that was causing problems (not that it couldn't have been partly that, too), but I've gone back to drinking some caffeine, and as long as I stay away from aspartame I'm better. Anyway I just wanted to throw that out there just in case it was a possibility. I've done some reading on it and it's caused a lot of people a lot of problems...and they always seem to be nonspecific and kind of mysterious, hard to figure out. Good luck, I hope you get this figured out! Smiler
