What an interesting question Samy. I dunno. I guess I will have to think about it...I'm a little tired tonight but here are some random thoughts...

Well, one thing, they both make us jump inside (metaphorically speaking).

I think triggers are reminders of an event...even remotely so...and they can be positive too.

However, we can develop a phobia, let say like agoraphobia without a specific event. We don't have to have an elevator accident to get a phobia about going up in an elevator. I would imagine the same goes for ants. That is we don't need a bad experience...just being startled by them might be enough.

But then again, we can develop a phobia after a negative experience too.

You can be triggered and not know that you were triggered whereas you usually know when you have a phobia...but not always. For instance, you can have a phobia of being alone and you orchestrate your life so you're never alone...that was me when I was younger.

Uhm...yeah, got me thinking you did! I bet your T could answer that one.

Oops, forgot to post the triggered article. Here it is: Being Triggered
