never heard of it or seen it but sounds interesting....

i had a therapist say to me once that I grew up to fast and i felt and i felt rather miffed, offended and defensive.. which she immediately sensed and added on 'intentional and unintentional'

i suppose i always associated this statement with those that say had alcoholic parents for instance or something of the sort.... my mom has a brain injury but isn't really well it's hard to explain, she is disabled but she has always been able to take care of me overall. i suppose there has been things or something or whatever but yeh.... after thinking over it more.. never discussed it with her but made me want to understand MORE about what that actually means more... so long story short ... in my context... sounds like something i would want to read!

of course, that doesn't necessarily help you to know that...

let me know what you think of it if you read it..

Thanks for your comments BW.

I have ordered it and will let you know if it's any good. T says it should help me understand why I felt like an adult when I was a kid and why I feel like a kid now that I'm an adult.

We'll see... and btw I do think it is common for adult children of alcoholics (which my mom qualified as) to be forced into adult roles. I will let you know if the book addresses that.

Haven't read more than exerpts yet, but listened to an hour-long public radio examination of the problem:
What they don't talk about is why exactly, kids are so "hurried" today...
I think maybe part of the answer to that is the fact that "education" is starting to mirror what is happening in our job marketplace.
Sad...that all that anxiety is being filtered down to kids. Understandable why, but spinning off our axis doesn't help kids much - A.S. Neill (Summerhill) once commented that his schooling methods would not churn out geniuses or over-achievers, just reasonably happy, healthy and socially well-adjusted grads.
Something in that -
