I know there are some other posts on here related to this topic (a Google search on this topic is how I found the site!), but I just wanted to know if 1) anyone knows the Kansas regulations for how long after therapy ends before an informal relationship can begin (this is with LMFT), and 2) what that means as far as contact with each other (no emails or anything at all?).

I can't find the specific ethics regulation on the KSBSRB's website, but the general rule seems to be two years, and I'm guessing that means no contact whatsoever. I guess if I'm completely honest, I'm basically looking for loopholes because neither of us chose to end our professional relationship, it was ended for us when the organization that employed him fired him because of differences in style (no misconduct, they were happy with his work, etc., it was just some stupid style differences). Anyway, I saw him for a year, and have continued therapy with a new gal. I've seen her three times now and things are going well. However, part of what made the transition easier was knowing that I could still email or call my old therapist. I was even in his town last weekend for my students' football game, and stopped by to say hello. This week, though, he learned about the waiting period at a CEU course he attended (he just became an LMFT this year, so newbie mistakes are totally understandable). So now, I just feel so frustrated that I'm not even allowed to talk to the guy, and ugh!!! I'm in the professional world, too, with clients and confidentiality and dual relationship ethics and such as well, so I understand the importance, but it is seriously frustrating and I just feel like the rug's just been ripped out from under me.

Thoughts? Tips/suggestions? Any loopholes??? ;-) (I'm pretty sure there aren't...but worth a shot!)
