Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to this website and hope to find some useful information here. Now, I've been seeing a professional psychologist for a year. Last Saturday morning in our session, I mentioned that to her and then said to her that so far, things are basically the same as far as my issues. She said she sees me as less depressed but I'm not sure I agree with her. As far as all the other issues in which I told her there's no change in, she basically gave me the silent treatment!! She hardly gave me feedback on what I said to her. At the end of our session, I paid her and said if I need to make another appointment, I'll call her. Why do you suppose she behaved like this?!!! Feel free to answer this too if you can Dr. LaCombe. Thanks.

welcome ctmyshrnk! I absolutely can't stand the silent treatment! BB I think you're right - that they want us to talk more. I usually say "WHAT?!" I think telling them how uncomfortable it makes us help. In your case ctmyshrnk, I think you should ask her why she was giving you the silent treatment and no answers to your questions. If you still don't get a response, maybe it's time to find another t? Just my thoughts of course. I hope you are feeling better.

Hey Guys,
I just tried shortening my name to ct; I prefer it. I unfortunately, had my computer in the shop for two days due to a serious viral infection, that's why I'm just getting back to you now. Anyway, I don't know if I'll continue to see my T or switch to a new one. Maybe I won't even bother with counseling anymore and just stick to the self-help option. There was one issue in which I asked my T her opinion on and she responded but that was the only one! Besides, my job changed their insurance carrier and my T is not on my new insurance. However, she offered to have me pay a little more than I used to and just waive the rest of it which seems to show that she really does care to help me. In fact, she told me at an earlier session last year that she's different from many therapists out there in that she really cares to see one get better. So I can't believe she gave me the damn silent treatment that she did!! Anyway, I think I'll see here soon and get to the bottom of all that. Thanks for your replies. (Sorry, I had a lot to say here!)
