I was just "looking inside" a book on adult attachment at Amazon and found the statistic that about 3 to 5 percent of the population can be categorized as having disorganized attachment. Just over 50% are secure, 25% avoidant and 20% anxious. This goes a long way towards explaining why more therapists aren't better at handling patients with disorganized attachment. Rarer than I realized. Just wanted to share as I thought other people might be interested.

If anyone is interested, the book was Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment and How It Can Help You Find and Keep Love

Hey AG,
It's interesting stuff - attachment theories, I studied it last year and yes I think more knowledge about the attachment styles certainly provides a person with a greater understanding of human relations and how we react to people, situations and the environment around us. If you are interested in it have a look at John Bowlby - he is highly regarded in that field. There is a book called "Becoming Attached" by Karen Robert that is also interesting if you up to it.
Cheers
