Facial Expressions Test

Its EasY and FAST! Just go to website and there will be a "TV" screen with buttons labeled 1 thru 10 on it. Each number will reveal a different facial expression that changes for just a fraction of a second. Your task is to choose which emotion was displayed in that fraction of a second. Keep track of all your first guesses, how many you got right the first time, and if you report your results here in the next 24 hours then I will use your data in my final psychology project, and hopefully get an "A". Cool Big Grin

I think its an easy test to take, but a hard test to score perfect on! My first time I predicted I would get 50% right, and I think I got 70&, so I was happy. But I've also read Paul Ekman's book "Emotions Revealed," which helped some.

Some of you may have already figured out how to cheat on this, but if you have already done the test then you can go back and do it again, and this time push the number on your keyboard which corresponds to the face you are looking at (hold down "1" for the first picture, for example). It doesn't work to just click on the number with your mouse, you must use the keyboard for this. When you do, it will "hold" the microexpression so you can see it for a long time instead of flashing. That will tell you for sure what emotion it is, if you missed it before. But don't cheat the first time cuz it ruins the fun!
Hey, DF. I thought the same thing about number 9. And I also thought the first two or three looked like contempt. I don't know about this test, but I know of other studies that have used faces for things like this that are composites of several different expressions, so it's totally possible!

Good luck on your paper, Cipher! I hope everything goes smoothly. Big Grin Thanks for giving us these fun tests to take! Hehe. Smiler
