My first "real" appt - beyond meeting T is in a while. The butterflies are having happy hour in my stomach and every last drop of moisture has already left my mouth. Note to self: buy water - those dinky little cups T has are hilarious. Maybe I should work on a paper or something and try to take my mind off my appt. Right.

The first session 'proper' can be a scary experience. A few deep breaths now and a bit of quiet meditation to prepare yourself might help.

I'm sure most; if not all, T's understand how frightening the first session can be for a new client, so he/she will be gentle with you Smiler

If your first few sessions are anything like mine, they'll be 'information gathering' on T's part; lots of little questionnaires and tests so they get a better understanding of you and how they can best help you.

Good luck with it; I'm sure you will be fine, and be sure to update us on how it goes. Smiler
I was much calmer after posting and reading Avoidant's reply. By the time I got there I was pretty good - not even much of a tremble going on! It was a good appt - good discussion and some strategizing about procrastination, where that's come from, etc. We talked about my dad - first time ever to anyone other than a friend, and that was ok after the initial "OMG you're giving up The Big Secret!!" and the accompanying feelings of betraying the family. Sigh. Dad's been dead for almost 23 years now - I doubt he minds much. Mom would still mind if she still had her memory but she's got dementia. I feel just a bit lighter now.
