Dude
At therapy, my T was doing some grounding techniques with me and I flipped out! I told her if I didn't have my 'fight' mode, then what did I have left to deal with my phobias? It was tough going... any advice?

Good idea Dude, I don't have any grounding techniques just yet. However, I so have that little 'letting go' audio exercise in the discharge article: http://www.myshrink.com/counseling-theory.php?t_id=82 It tends to bring people down a little when they do it. Let me know if it works for you.
I've also been thinking of putting the videos together to create a sort of winding down exercise. I'd call it the AutoRegulator. I'll let you know when I finish it.
Bye for now,

I tired the audio-breathing thing and actually I stink at it! But I already knew that...

Hello Dude-
My therapist made a tape for me with some different relaxation exercises.. I actually wrote most of one.... and she also helped me find some other techniques that help too which hse wrote down as well such as... reminding myself that Im safe and that was then.. this is now..... cuddling my teddy bear or other present moment object to focus on.... tapping my body....
anyways, when searching the web one day, I ran into this site and really loved it. Hope you might like it too.

Okay, Dude I'll see what else I can come up with. The grounding has to "match" your internal speed. No use going to the beach (i.e. in your imagination), if you feel like you're speeding down a roadway. A lot of grounding techniques don't get this part.

I don't quite understand that... isn't the grounding also supposed to 'slow you down'?
