I talked with my T about having a lot of body memories in my hands and feet. She suggested I work on trying to be kind to my hands and feet. Not just not harm them, but actively be kind. To my hands and feet. I have no idea how to do this... Maybe this seems obvious to everyone. I dunno. I'm stuck.

any ideas?

Jane,
Two things sprang instantly to mind for me, the first of which was lotion. My hands and feet are a lot happier when I moisturize them regularly (although I'm quite a bit older than you if I remember right and I have noticed it's become more important with age). But the second thing I thought was, tactile sensations. Like really fluffy soft socks, and touching things that are sensual to the touch. In a sense, let your hands and feet enjoy doing what it is they do. I hope that helps.

And hot baths, my feet love hot baths!

oh wow, neat ideas!!! Thanks!!! I was begining to feel just awful that I couldn't think of anything and now I'm actually excited about this self care/kindness "homework" from my T. Big Grin

I love the idea of soft fuzzy socks and gloves, oh and peppermint lotion... I think I know just where to go. Oh, and petting animals - that's a good one! I always feel really good and safe doing that. My heart just softens too. That gives me a great idea to ask my eq T about! Big Grin

The painting them idea reminds me of how messy they get would get when I used to throw clay on a wheel. It always felt good.

I'm gonna have some fun with this homework! Big Grin Thanks for the GREAT ideas!

soaking my feet now,

What about some time consciously thinking about your hands and looking at them?

I lost alot of weight and am amazed at how my hands look different and feel different too.

Have you every just spent 10 mins just examining your hands, noticing where the veins and how you fingers move or don't move. Just enjoying the sheer awe of these wonderfully created things at the ends of our arms? Looking at the lines on your hands? wondering if they really mean anything?
