I wrote how I had to end with my pricey T.
I have an appointment with another T this week but I am not optimistic she will be as helpful
As the T I just left. I'm already thinking about
Gojng back to him. In struggling without him.
Would you pay 10k per year out of pocket if you made
50k?
After taxes it amounts to 25% of my income.
The thing is that I feel it may be worth it because otherwise
I feel like I may not have a life.
T won't come down anymore in his rates.

My insurance only covers 'psychologists' and I see a T...So, zero coverage.

My T's rates are significantly less than what you have posted yours as.

It has been a financial burden, but one that I've learned how to manage and incorporate into my budget...It is a part of my budget that right now I see as non-negotiable - Like rent and car payments.

I think that it is your choice to make...but having made the choice without insurance to help - I can only really share my viewpoint.
Nope, I wouldn't do it. Therapy is a bit of a gamble in any case, and in my mind it's NOT a gamble worth 25% of my income. I'd rather deal with being symptomatic, so long as the symptoms were "manageable" which mine generally are. I think Ts can overestimate their importance. Mental well being is important, but so is financial well being and it can have a decided impact on the other! Smiler I think I'd look around for some cheaper therapy or other options, though.

Of course this is a matter of personal priorities rather than right or wrong, but those are what mine would be in such a scenario, for what it's worth.

Sorry you have to be making this decision right now. :/
I wouldn't pay 1/4 of my income - but it would be impossible for me to with all of my other financial obligations.

Do you have a lot if other monthly financial obligations? Would the money be taken from somewhere elsevthat is necessary? If you don't have other necessities and you need this T, you might want to consider it.

My T is dropping my insurance company and evenvat $2600 a year for bi-monthly appointments I can't do that because my budget is so stretched. It's a real bemmer, this whole T and healing thing. I don't know why it's so easy to go to a dr. and get a pill for anything to use like a band-aid, but to have real healing from the inside is such an expense and a hassle.
