I'm looking for some new music ideas. If anyone would like to post their fav playlists I would love to look at them. I use Rhapsody so can play just about anything I want. I need some new ideas. I have a wide range of tastes
(uhhuh...sure you do...well...of course I do)...
Sorry...interrupted by myself there. *smirk* Roll Eyes

I will post my playlist when I get it together...it's too big to really pare down my favs...right now, and I don't want to depress everyone.

Anyway...just a thought...

Hmmm...not much interest here. That's ok...I found some previous threads that had some good songs in them...thanks all.
Here is my short list...in no particular order. I tried to do that...but would not consider this a good or coherent mix. I have created my own genre here...I call it ANGST! So...that pretty much describes the tone of my list. Sometimes when I'm just not up...it feels better for me to just work through my down. This is how I do it.

Thanks for the list SD. I found it very interesting. I have already checked out Beauty from Pain and it's very powerful. I plan to check out some others. I happen to be looking for songs that hold a certain significance for a CD I'm burning for my T. Answer is a big therapy song for me and I listen to it often. A few of my other favorites include:

There You'll Be - Faith Hill
I'll Stand by You - The Pretenders
Don't Give Up (You are Loved) -Josh Groban
Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel
The Rose - LeAnn Rimes

Hi TN...

I'm sure you will find a few good ones for your purpose in this list. I've wanted to share it with my T many times...but so far...she does not seem interested. I guess she doesn't want to analyze my music. LOL....

It seems like I need different T's for different reasons just like my medical Drs. I need a music T, an art T, a trauma T, a general maintenance T. etc...etc... Where the heck are the general practitioner T's these days?

CT...

An interesting list...to be sure. Wink

I tend to shy away from boy bands...just my preference. And of course...I am a bit too old for too much metal. LOL....
Usually I am not into much of the "christian" genre...with some exceptions that are considered CCM (contemporary christian) With that in mind...I did find some really nice tracks on the Nicole Nordeman recordings. One that I can relate to and seems to resonate to therapy in general...is the track We Build. I also like No More Chains...and of course your pick Gratitude.

Thanks much...keep workin it. Smiler

CT,
This is SO cool! Both my daughters and I like Reliant K and the two songs you flagged as "must listen" are both really meaningful for me. Music has been a really important part of my healing. I often discussed music with my first T. When she retired, as a goodbye gift, I made her a custom CD (mix, too many for only one disc Smiler). Along with it I had written a guide that talked about each song, why it was important to me and how it had fit into our journey together. A musical journal if you will. Both "Let it all out" and "I so hate consequences" were part of the mix. Thanks for the list I want to check out your other songs. And I also REALLY like their song Deathbed. Smiler

SD- Glad you found some Nichole Nordeman songs you liked. I've really gravitated to Christian music since high school. I used to get into some really dark music, but once I stopped cutting, I found that listening to that stuff really triggers me. I have to be careful about anything that I can get stuck in a repetitive loop in my head- I am very sensitive that way for some reason.

AG- It's so cool that you are a Relient K junkie too! Aren't they awesome? And so completely random at times? I think they are so funny but deep at the same time- there is no telling how many times I have listened to "let it all out"- i think those lyrics were written with me in mind! And the musical journey idea is SO cool. I bet your T really liked it!

Hi all. This is my favorite song right now and I just thought I'd post the lyrics in case anyone was interested/shared my taste in music.

Awful Direction
by The Almost

Life has given me the, me the creeps
I need you to make, to make, to make me weak
I have made my world my own, I've made it my own
And I have never been so alone

I can't stop my brain from moving
in an awful direction Lord
I can't stop my hands from doing
what I don't want to do anymore
I've been wrong
I've been right
but tonight
I just wanna be yours

I'm planning this out
to be all about me
I, I am wrong can you help me?

I can't stop this brain from moving
in an awful direction Lord
I can't stop these hands from doing
what I don't want to do anymore
I've been wrong
I've been right
but tonight
I just wanna be yours

I've got to let go of all of this
'cause I'm dragging me down, down

I can't stop my brain from moving
in an awful direction Lord
I can't stop my hands from doing
what I don't want to do anymore
I've been wrong
I've been right
but tonight
I just wanna be yours
I just wanna be yours
I just wanna be yours
