hi all. i saw the new T after leaving the other too pricey one.
this new one will only see me once per week. i dont want that as i dont think i will make progress as i would 2-3 times per week and even though my insurance covers her, she wont bill more than 1x per week.
she is going to see if she knows someone else who will bill more than once per week to insurance and let me know.

meanwhile i called old pricey T. he is going to charge me 105 per session and that is an out of pocket cost. im going to see him a couple of times while i try to make the transition.

the new T told me that if the guy was helping me, why dont i keep going even if it will cost me 25 of my monthly income (that is before taxes).

is this totally nuts to even consider? i feel like i literally cant do anything other than go to therapy if i do that. which makes me feel that its worth it to drag through the pain of finding a newer and cheaper T.

Yeah, probably not. Wow, that is a lot of money. My insurance only pays my T $100 for one hour sessions (H) and $125 for 75 minute sessions (me) and that is including our $30 copay. He usually would make $150, but he is working with us. I'm sorry your therapist can't go cheaper than that. He must be in demand, then. Did he have any referrals he could give you? That is an awful lot of money to have to pay.
my insurance pays 195 of his 300. he has written books and is very well known. thats why he charges so much.
he told me he doesnt know how much others charge and didnt know who was cheaper. but he pointed me to someone who refers clients to others. so im waiting for them to call and called another guy who charges less. i think ill find someone else it will just take some time.

even at 105 that just feels too much. its quite silly in a way to charge that much but he can. i sort of cant blame him.

but its funny. when i said im leaving he said no no we are in this together. and i said then drop the fee. he goes oh no i cant.
