Obviously the news on Gadaffi was aired everywhere today. What caught my attention more than anything was the video uploaded onto major news broadcasting channels. To me, it was too explicit to be seen.
I remember seeing a very harrowing (in my opinion) piece of video footage of a girl in Iran (Her name was Nadia) who had been shot in the heart. The footage was explicitely shown of her dying.
I wonder if this sort of news coverage is going too far? Is it possible that it simply contributes to the desensitizing that we need less of? It is a help or a hindrance on people to view such things? Must we accept this as a normality of human brutality or ideally should this kind of footage been concealed?
It shocks me to see this sort of thing because in my opinion, all that needs to be aired is what happened, not the brutality of it as it happens. Is this something to do with freedom of information and the need to show a nation that such an act actually occured to stop people from being suspicious of propaganda? Or does this promote such a thing?
I don't really have opinions on things like this primarily because I tend to think that my opinion is faultered or wrong in some way or another. So I apologize. I apologize if this is not what people like to read. Please let me know if this is not appropriate.
I do think that such coverage may have too much of an adverse effect on the likes of children as well.
