I thought I'd share a short, warm, and funny story with you today... (if you're up for one)
I got home yesterday from a very intense session with my T. I felt quite shaken and drained and I was trying to calm myself down and feel more grounded. After getting home I went into the living room and sat at the end of the couch, which is situated next to our parrots cage. Our parrots name is Rita. I leaned forward, placed my elbows against my knees, and focused on clearing my mind. After about 30 seconds Rita said "What ya doing?" and then after 5 seconds of silence she said "Not much?" I told her "I'm resting Rita". I glance over and noticed she is on my side of the cage staring intently at me. I refocus on my breathing and another half minute goes by. Rita says "Do you like kisses papa?" I respond with half a grin on my face "Yes Rita, I like kisses". To which she replies "Kisses for papa!" and she makes kissing noises. I look over at her, now grinning ear to ear and see she has her beak pressed through the bars toward me. I lean over to her and give her a kiss on the beak. We both then leaned back slightly and I said to her softly "Thank you Rita". The power of pets never fails to amaze me
I hope you all have a great day!
