Hi All,
I was searching for "Why is therapy so painful" and this link is one of the things that showed up. It mentions briefly physical abuse so that is why I put possible triggers. I just found it informative for myself so wanted to share.

Wow, hopeful. I can't tell you what a perfect time this was for me to read this.

After a really hard session today with T where I spent the majority of the time in tears she said something like... 'when you're able to make meaning of this [how much pain I was going through today] you will want to soak up every beautiful minute of what you are feeling right now'. The part about emergence in the article reminded me of this and make her words make more sense. From an artist's perspective I think suffering is beautiful, but I've yet to accept that in my personal life.

It has also lent me to appreciate, or at least muse for now... that my Ts don't go in to the details. Attending to the wreckage rather than talking about the tornado. I've really clung to the notion that the best healing I can do is to tell my Ts about things I've been through, and it makes a little more sense now when they are pushing other things.

Anyway, this gave me tons to think about and consoled a really deep hurting hole I had in me today after my session.
Cat,
I'm so glad this helped you...it's great for me to have a response like yours...you just don't know.

BLT,
I personally don't know about trauma therapy but read online about my own diagnosis which seems to me to lead to a bit of trauma in my life. It really was explained in a unique manner...easy to relate to when re-experiencing stuff from the past. Thanks for responding.

Thanks for the link, hopeful. It was interesting and explained what is happening in a new way for me. It sort of reminds me of the articles I read on emotional flashbacks. The keys would be the emotional flashbacks triggered by those keys in the past but the person really has no idea what has triggered such a reaction.

Thanks.

TN,
I'm glad it helped you also. It seems like if we could figure it out it would alleviate all the story tellin' fir me personally anyways...maybe? The positive keys also are interesting for me because I had one of those experiences recently so it took me back to a really relaxing experience. I'm glad you liked it also.

Hopeful
