Can anyone really explain to me how your t's help you process things? And exactly what the difference between process vs. content is? Like for instance, if I went to a T and said I have problems getting close to people and I want to improve my relationships, what would my therapy sessions look like. Would we be talking about my daily stuff or what????

I don't know the correct label for what my therapist does, but basically she leads me into a conversation by saying "What would you like to talk about today?" and then she listens very carefully and feedbacks and asks questions in my own words. She has even refered back to things that I've said in previous sessions, eg. when I have a way of coping in a different situation. Her goal is to lead ME to coming up with my own answers, instead of spoon feeding me.

I find this approach really effective. She is very genuine with it and skillful, so that i don't feel like she has been reading about active listening and wanting to give it a go. When I get really stuck on something, she will chip in with a prompt like "People in your situation often ........" or she also isn't afraid to say " I think... I feel.." but mostly she gets me to do the work myself, usually while having a general conversation.
