Both my parents had motor bikes; dads with a
sidecar for days out and mums was so big she had
to get someone to kick start it for her!!

riding in a sidecar, on the "wrong" side of the road, in one of those circles (circus?).... I would not have survived the dizziness

Oh yes; often. Dad on the bike, mum riding
pillion and me and my sister in the sidecar. I
remember it well. It was black and white like
a chequerboard effect with two little seats
facing each other. We'd fight for who got to
sit facing forwards or backwards!!

oh my...facing backwards, left side of the road, heading into a roundabout...my stomach's getting queasy; i'm going to have to lean over the side

AV you mentioned black and white, is that in back in the days when everything was black and white

Not only facing backwards goin round roundabouts; but it was blooming cold, draughty, and noisy. And everything else on the road looked HUGE!!
