The author does an excellent job of pulling together every aspect of how trauma and just being human interact and the impact of self-criticism on the quality of life of the trauma survivor and the impact it can have on the ability to heal.
I have known for a long time that I am very self-critical and I have some really intensely protective parts that are the most critical of all, but every time I tried to stop and couldn't that failure was added to the pile of reasons why I was worthless.
My T has been trying (for a long time) to convey to me what is in this book and I kept getting stuck on the criticizing myself for being self critical and couldn't get myself or other parts past that block...until now. I finally understand what she has been trying to tell me.
A very easy read with many useful exercises to begin showing yourself compassion.
