What you need to clear is form completion/form data which is sometimes a little hidden.

I'm not sure what sort of browser you have - it doesn't sound like Safari, so I'm going to assume you are a windows user.

In Firefox:
Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox Will: Use custom settings for history > Uncheck Remember search and form history

Incase you are a wonderful Mac'er like myself here is Safari:

Safari menu > Reset Safari and select "remove saved names and passwords" and "remove other Autofill form text".

If you use something else, I'd scan the area where you could select cookies, etc and see if that is an option.

That would worry me too. I don't like anyone touching my computer, even if I have nothing to 'hide' necessarily. Whether it's a stranger or a close loved one I like to have 'my space'. I really hope something worked - let me know!

I use firefox on a Macbook and followed your directions. It worked - yeah!

I'm constantly clearing my history, for fear my computer will die (which has happened) and I'll have to turn it over to a technician who could then see my history...
