Today, as I left the Therapist's office, I walked through the waiting room. It's small, there were a couple of ladies waiting. I had my sunglasses on. I had been crying and while the sunglasses help a great deal, my face gets really splotchy.

I happened to look up and the lady was looking at me. Her eyes, they were not saying, "I haven't seen you before..." They weren't saying, "I wonder what she's here for...?" They were saying, "I understand. I understand exactly what you are going through right now...leaving as you are crying..."

I found understanding in the eyes of a stranger. A conversation where no words, but understanding, were exchanged.

seems like that was a powerful experience. I love that that happened for you and that you decided to share! ((TAS))

A couple weeks ago, I was leaving the T I do EMDR with and her next client was in her waiting room...which is tiny (her office is in her house). This is the first time I've seen any of her clients because I think she usually ends earlier than she did. But I'm a temporary client and don't know her regular flow/schedule/whatever. When I left, this woman gave me such a comforting look too. I felt bad I took up more time even though we ended a minute or so before the hour. Anyway, it was a nice feeling. She didn't seem like she was sizing me up or judging.

I'm so glad you could take in the care of a total stranger who seemed to get it.
