Hi! I thought it would be fun to mention songs that relate personally in some way to the therapy experience. These can be songs that:
-Remind us of our Ts
-Help us unwind after a hard session
-Sum up our therapy experience
-Etc.

I'll go first: "She Looks to Me" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Reminds me of my T. Smiler

The first T I ever worked with (who is now my current T again) 'gave me a song' the first time we worked together. She brought in her laptop and played it for me, it was really special Smiler

It's 'Soldier' by Ingrid Michaelson, she said it spoke to her about our work together, it made her think of me and my learning to trust other people and heal, but also recognize how difficult that journey is...
RT, I heard "Say what you need to say" on the radio yesterday, and I thought to myself, "That has to be someone's therapy song." LOL!

Armored Heart, my T also played a song for me. I believe it's called "There's a hole in the most beautiful life." Can't remember the artist, but listening to that together was a special moment.
Fun thread, Affinity! Thanks!

For current T I don't have one specific song, but certain types of relaxation music or sounds remind me of the relaxation techniques she's taught me.

Certain music reminds me of my former T and her office. Sometimes in former T's waiting room they played George Winston's December album. I have it at home, so that's how I know what it was. Sometimes I do listen to it on my ipod or cd player in order to remind myself of that office and waiting to see T.
There are a few songs that remind me of my former T because I know one of her favorite bands and a classical musician she likes also.
There is a song that I secretly called my song for my T. It is "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars. Every time I hear it still I get a warm feeling in my heart and it reminds me of some incredible summer sessions that I had with her (our connection and the spiritual type sparks that happened). It's a difficult feeling to describe in words.

I have theme songs for myself that are therapeutic for me depending on my mood. Sara B's, "Brave" is one of those along with Katy Perry's, "Roar" and "Part of Me".
I have so many more in addition to this, but I need to wrap this post up and go to bed.

I'm looking forward to reading some other people's posts on this. I find this fascinating!

Lately I have been liking Sight of the Sun by fun. The opening lyrics go "For once I have nothing up my sleeve/just some scars from a life that used to trouble me..."

For some reason the idea of being clear of the life that used to trouble me just keeps ringing in my head. Like if it was just a thing that I still owned, but could look at as a bit of a part of me and a separate thing and not be so much lost in and consumed by that life. I don't really know what I mean, but the idea of something like that really has a grip on me. In a good way, I think.

Thanks for this, RT. It means a lot - I'm struggling a bit in therapy and this is a perfectly placed reminder as I'm crawling out the spot I'm in.
I was just noticing something like this the other day...when I was exercising, I was listening to my i-pod and James Taylor's "Shower the People" came on and that one section in the lyrics spoke to me:

"Once you tell somebody the way that you feel, you can feel it beginning to ease. I think it's true what they say about the squeeky wheel, always getting the grease."

As for therapy, I guess an oldy but goody...Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up." I think of T#2 with this song. I was with him the longest and he was/is one of my biggest cheerleaders, more of a father-figure. I miss him so much.
