Hi DF & frosty,

Thank you for replying. I was just sitting here remembering things from my teens and wondered if other people had to do such things as I mentioned or if I wasn't just making a mountain out of a molehill. Even to the extent of just being jealous because my brother never had to. For that matter, my 3 younger siblings never had to either. Hummm...

I had to pay $80.00 for rent, and $50.00 a month for food, buy my own school supplys and clothes. This was back in 64' thru mid 67'. The only good thing I can think of is it taught me to manage my money better than my parents, especially my dad. He always robbed Peter to pay Paul so to speak.

I had a job and worked nights on Friday thru Sunday night and then went to school after I got off work on Mondays. I worked from age 14 thru 16 while in High School. My girlfriend was 2 yrs older than I and she would pick me up to go back and forth to work and to school on Monday. She also worked the same hours as me, so I paid for her gas those 3 days.

The pay scale was lousy but the tips was great. I hid my money away or else dad would take it all.
