Hi I'm new to this site. I started going to therapy about 7 months ago and have been having financial problems with it. I have been able to barely keep up until recently (picked up another job/worked more hours). When I called to cancle my therapy session due to the fact that I couldn't afford it, she told me to still come in and that it was ok since I pay her when I can. She knows my current financial situation. I plan on going but I feel weird about this. I don't know how much longer I can afford therapy, but I need it. Has anyone else had their T adjust the pay rate for them in a financial bind even if they don't work on a sliding scale?
I don't want to find a new T because I like this one and it's worth the money to me.

Hello,

I am studying to be a therapist and one of the things we learn in school is that therapists are encouraged to take pro-bono clients meaning helping those out who could not afford to come. The therapist will weigh each situation out and determine if they are able to provide pro-bono services. It is something they do on an occasional basis and not just for one individual...Hope this makes sense
