Hi Aveeno00,

My very first therapist was a trainee. I really got along well with her and never felt her inexperience was a obstacle for our work together. As SP pointed out above, other factors like personality, gender, age, general vibes are equally important when it comes to creating a good therapeutic relationship. Unfortunately she finished her traineeship after we had been working together for three months and referred me to an other T with whom I really did not match. So I terminated after three sessions Frowner. I would give it a go if I where you.
good luck!
Thank you for all of your responses.

I do have a trainee therapist for about a year and a half now and sometimes I have doubts about our relationship, but there are other times where I felt that she is the perfect therapist for me.

So, yours comment made me feel like I was not the only one that feels this way towards a trainee. But, I have told her that seeing her was one of the best decisions I have made for myself and that she changed my life.

It is just a lot harder when trainee's are not allowed to have outside contact with their clients. I think..?
