Hey Draggers!

Well I guess the song that most symbolises where I am at the moment is Sit Down next to me by James. Of course 3 weeks from now that may be different, but that is what I am identifying with the most at the present moment.

Here is the link if anyone wants to listen.

Funny as sad as what this song is, it is a song I have always loved and a song that has always made me happy, perhaps now I am just hearing it through different ears.

Hey Draggers,

I haven't responded because I can't think of a song that sums me up. I'm going to have to do some serious work in this area. But I will. How about you? What song would you pick?

And that Loretta Lynn clip was a flashback from the past. Not to worry, we don't have country like that here anymore either. Held, what show was that?

Draggers, do you know Loretta Lynn's story? There is a 1980 movie about her life called the Coal Miner's Daughter. It's very good.
Haha, yeah, that was from the 70's, which I guess may explain the outfit a little? Sorta? Lol, we don't have country like that anymore either. . . unfortunately. I love Loretta! Big Grin Glad you enjoyed the song, Draggers. I was feeling a bit swamped by the kids and house when I read your post, so it was the first song I thought of for something to sum me up Smiler, although I hope it doesn't really sum me up entirely! Baby is doing well and sends greetings.

Would second Liese's recommendation of the movie Coal Miner's Daughter. It's a fascinating story and also very well acted. Didn't Sissy Spacek win an Oscar for her performance as Loretta? Will have to look it up. Also the song by the same title is worth a listen, imo.

Liese, I think that youtube clip was from the Grand Ole Opry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_ole_opry

Ohh, and B2W wanted to say I loved your song! I had never heard it before but it made me smile. So happy sounding. Baby was listening with me and he started grinning when it played, it was too cute. Smiler
Awww Draggers, what a great idea. And touching as well. But you still didn't tell us what yours is/was?

Okay, so I went a little crazy here. I'm doing some major avoiding today. I know I'm putting way too many songs out here but I couldn't stop myself.

Childhood:

On Eagles Wings

You Raise Me Up

The Prayer of St. Francis

Be Not Afraid

Here I Am, Lord

Adolescence:

Crazy

The winner takes it all (except no one ever came to shake my hand.)

Young Adult:

Jar of Hearts

Take A Bow

The Climb

Right before therapy and beginning of therapy:

Cough Syrup

Now:

I am a new soul

Rise

How I feel about my T (and hopefully someone else someday.)

Brighter than the sun

Enchanted

You Are the Only Exception

The Story

wave on wave

I won't give up

Still working on:

Born This Way
Dragonfly,
I love this idea. I am always asking people to tell me what they are enjoying listening to so that I can get some new tracks to listen to on my commute.

I'm really not religious, but sometimes the old gospel really makes me feel something. I guess it's the exultation I respond to.

I love The Dixie Hummingbirds.

Move On Up A Little Higher

I've Got So Much To Shout About
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Abkn2HPwEXg

The recording on the first one is a little rough, soundwise. The second one is just one minute from a 7 minute song. The itunes recordings are a much better quality, but you could get a taste of what they are like from these clips.

I hope someone listens to the whole song of I've Got So Much to Shout About. They get so worked up about having a tongue to talk and feet to walk and all that. Smiler
Just to add mine to the mix - gonna check out some of the other ones that have been posted

Leona Lewis - Footprints in the Sand (cos it reminds us of T being my footprints at the moment)

R.E. M - Everybody Hurts (strange one we know but this has helped us get through many a dark night when we is thinking we is the only going through tough things

Josh Groban - You are Loved (Don't Give Up) - again reminds me of T and the others here

Pings
Pingu, Everybody Hurts is one of my all-time favorites as well. It really does help when you are hurting.

I love the Boxer, but it is I am a Rock that I would choose if I could only listen to one song ever again. Something about the words “freshly fallen silent shroud of snow” just kills me.

You Only Tell me you Love me when You're Drunk by the Pet Shop Boys is another favorite.

I’ve listened to Laurie Anderson’s album “Big Science” so many times, and all the songs flow together, but I think I like Let x = x the best.

Float On by Modest Mouse gets me energized and leaves me feeling optimistic.

The opening to Bittersweet Symphony has always given me chills.

And I Try helped me through leaving someone I loved- “My world crumbles when you are not near” still hits my heart.
