Hey RedTomatah -

Look around you, check in with your physical environment - what can you see? What can you hear? What can you smell? Write down (here or for yourself) what's around you, check in, make sure you're safe. Let your breathing settle slowly and gently.

The waterfall is just an imaginary image (I know you know that), but when I wrote it I was thinking not of a person going over, but a river....

when you think about it, water is made to do this, to flow, to shift with gravity and the land and other forces, to change shape, disperse, come back together. the river can't be hurt by going over the waterfall. our feelings are a lot like water, always changing, moving with the circumstances... we can try to keep water still but it's made to move....
everyone fucks up, with regularity... that's us humans. fucking up, making up, fucking up... falling apart, coming together, falling apart...alone, connected, alone....

the annihilation stuff comes from long ago I guess. if you can hang on (by yr fingernails, if necessary) to the concrete ok-ness of right now (as in, you are here, you have a roof, water, your body is intact) you can maybe ride out the ebb and flow until the next safe port. slowly you can gather resources, perspective, strength that way.
