Not sure why I am sharing this except that I am trying to get out of my shell and participate a bit more.

Today H and I went to court to ask the judge to dismiss the protective order I requested against him in May 2012. H has been pressing me to do it because he wants his guns back so he can go hunting with our son this fall. H moved back in the house 7 months ago and there has been no more violence, so I didn't feel like I had a reason to insist on keeping the protective order in place.

But the judge disagreed. He said the law intended protective orders to last at least 2 years and it was premature to end it now. He did modify it, but H is still banned from possession of his guns, which he was not happy about.

The thing is, I am secretly glad that the judge ruled the way he did. I am glad that a MAN is taking my security seriously. It helps me feel justified in my legal actions. But I did not tell H that, and I feel a bit guilty about it because H truly has been demonstrating good behavior since he moved back in.

I guess I don't really have a question. I just wanted to share my day with you here.

MH it's been great to see you back posting. I think RT said it very well. Your dh is finally experiencing consequences for his violent behavior and I think it was great the judge kept things in place. AND that he took your protection seriously.

I am relieved to hear that there is no more violence in your house and pray it will stay tha way.

Hugs
