I found a great article on the web by a clinical psychologist about how our mind functions in an attempt to keep us safe. It made a lot of sense to me and I thought a lot of people could really relate, so I thought I would post a link.

I'll be interested to see what the next 2 parts say because it sounds very similar to the book I just started reading on the advice of my T called "The Happiness Trap". It describes thoughts much the same way and goes on to describe ways to remind yourself that your thoughts aren't facts.
This is a great article AG. I love his humorous approach to discussing something that many in the field make so complicated. Another reason why I am drawn to Shrinklady's website too. It is a relief to be able to read _and understand_ the complexity of our minds w/o having to re-read the same paragraph over and over because someone has chosen to encrypt their message with their verbose flair.
